Life in Rancho Penasquitos | San Diego, CA

Rancho de los Peñasquitos is Spanish for "land of the little hills," a nod to the geographic terrain that provides peace and quiet to the residents who call it home.

This master-planned community encompasses about 10,000 acres of land, including Black Mountain Regional Park. About half of the space is dedicated to housing. Located in the North County region of San Diego, the community is home to more than 52,000 residents who enjoy its natural beauty and amenities. Neighborhoods vary from condominiums to townhomes to custom homes, with a wide range of pricing options for every buyer.

The focal point of Rancho Peñasquitos is the 1,500-foot-high Black Mountain, located within Black Mountain Open Space Park. The park includes more than 2,300 acres of preservation for coastal sage scrub and chaparral.

Residents of this area can reach downtown San Diego or the coastline easily via I-15 or Ted Williams Parkway (State Route 56).  But although the community provides close freeway access, it still gives a sense of being away from the fast pace of the outside world. Several parks and recreation centers are spread throughout, with active sporting leagues for adults and children.

Schools in Rancho Peñasquitos are part of Poway Unified School District, long-recognized for excellence in education.
